Files are something Microsoft worries about. Files in the cloud are something Google and Amazon worry about. Apple’s iCloud is about opening an application and the thing you want to access being there.
It’s like choosing a contractor because they know how to forge and cast steel using coal, iron, an oven and a bellows, when they actually need to know a) the address of the nearest Home Depot b) what to do with the steel once they buy it.

My favourite answer …

Everyone claims to “hire only the top 1 percentile”. If that were true, 100% of employed people would all be in the “top 1 percentile” of all people, so 99% of all people would be unemployed (in any given field). As this is clearly not the case, and we’ve all experienced people who’re clearly not in that group (why else do you ask this question at all…) we know this isn’t true.

In fact organisations made up solely of such people would be highly unstable. Too much ego, too many conflicting ideas. It’d either fall apart as everyone does his own thing, bog down in never ending theoretical discussions about the relative merits of everything, or evolve into a constant shouting match as sentiments flare whenever a decision has to be made.

Recreating Lost myOpenID Account

myOpenID account created for login to stackoverflow mysteriously disappeared and I couldn’t login anymore! The unexpected and rare reason turned out to be that it was created at a moment during the Amazon Cloud outage http://meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/88451/myopenid-account-mysteriously-vanished.

To solve this problem, all I have to do is recreating the account again with the same username. Easy solution once you know the reason!
